Lagos Police Debunk Ritual Killing Claims as LASU Seeks Justice for Missing Graduate
The Lagos State Police Command has debunked reports of the alleged ritual killing of 28-year-old Adedamola Ogunbode, a graduate of Lagos State University (LASU).
Command spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that Ogunbode was declared missing and that three suspects, including a prophet, had been arrested in connection with the case.
However, Hundeyin clarified that Ogunbode’s mutilated body was not found, contrary to social media reports. “He is still missing, and we are investigating a case of a missing person, not murder. There is no dead person anywhere.”
This development came after LASU management demanded justice for the missing graduate, claiming that he was killed by a prophet for ritual purposes.
In a statement issued by Deputy Registrar Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, the university condemned the alleged senseless act of violence and called for swift action by security agencies.
“The university management is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of Ogunbode. The deceased, fondly known as Horlar, was allegedly killed by a prophet in the Ojo area of Lagos State, reportedly for ritual purposes.”
Thomas-Onashile urged the authorities to ensure that those responsible face justice, saying, “We call for swift and thorough action by the relevant security agencies to ensure that those responsible face justice and that the perpetrators of this horrific crime do not go unpunished.”
The university management extended condolences to Ogunbode’s family and friends, emphasizing that the safety and security of students remain their top priority.
