Lagos 2027 Poll: Group Endorses Alausa, Rejects Seyi Tinubu
Two Lagos-based groups, the League of Concerned Lagosians (LCL) and the Good Governance Initiative, has rejected Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, as their candidate for the 2027 Lagos governorship election.
Instead, the group have thrown their weight behind Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of State for Education.
According to Oladipo Wahab, spokesperson for LCL, Alausa’s impressive background as a Chicago-based medical doctor and his current role as Minister of Education make him the ideal candidate to continue President Tinubu’s visionary legacy in Lagos.
“Alausa possesses the necessary knowledge and skills to attract contemporary developments that would complement Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to rejuvenate the state,” Wahab said in a statement titled “Alausa: Save Lagos Now.”
The Good Governance Initiative also endorsed Alausa, with General Secretary Wale Olushoga stating that their position aligns with LCL’s.
This development comes amid growing speculation about Seyi Tinubu’s potential governorship bid in Lagos State. While some stakeholders have expressed support for his candidacy, others have raised concerns about his qualifications and experience.
However, the Association of Arewa Yoruba Youths (AAYY) has argued that Seyi Tinubu is constitutionally qualified to aspire for any elective position, just like any other citizen.
