John Dumelo Bags Parliamentary seat in Ghana
Renowned Ghanaian Actor, John Dumelo, has emerged victorious in the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary constituency seat in Ghana.
Dumelo, who ran under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) platform, defeated incumbent Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) ¹.
This win marks a significant milestone for Dumelo, who had been vying for the position since 2018 but lost in previous attempts. However, this time around, he secured a decisive victory with 40,561 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Alhassan, who garnered 27,377 votes.
In his post-victory statement, Dumelo expressed his commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous community, he said, “this victory is not just for me, but for the people of Ayawaso West. I am committed to ensuring that we build a stronger, more prosperous community together.
“This is a valuable lesson for everyone. It’s not about money; it’s about the development of the people and addressing their needs.”
As a well-known figure in both Nollywood and Ghallywood, Dumelo has featured in numerous films, including 40 Looks Good on You, A Northern Affair, and Adams Apples, among others.
