January 9 National Day of Mourning to Honor Jimmy Carter – Biden
The United States President, Joe Biden has declared January 9 a national day of mourning in honor of Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States.
Biden, in the White House proclamation, called on Americans to visit their places of worship to pay tribute to Carter’s memory.
He said, “I call on the American people to assemble on that day in their respective places of worship, there to pay tribute to the memory of President James Earl Carter, Jr.”
Biden also urged all the nations to share in the grief, he said, “I invite the people of the world who share our grief to join us in this solemn observance.”
Jimmy Carter passed away on Sunday at the age of 100 in Plains, Georgia. He was a Nobel Peace Prize recipient and will be remembered for his humanitarian work and commitment to public service.
