Izu-Anioma: Ndokwa Nation Restates Position, Warns Against Intimidation

The crises of confidence resulting from the proposed change of the name of Izu-Anioma has continued to rage as the Ndokwa nation has vowed henceforth not to allow the continued disdainful treatment against it.

The Ndokwa position was contained in a paper, titled; “Re-Objection to change of name Izu-Anioma” and addressed to the Chairman, Izu-Anioma and signed by Prince Igwe Nzekwe (JP), and Chief H. Ike Ijoma, President and Secretary, on behalf of the Ndokwa Nation President Generals of the thirty seven clans comprising the Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West and Ukwuani Local Government Areas.

Izu Anioma, the apex body of Delta North Senatorial District in organising the people, has existed for over five decades with the name and its been proposed to be rename as the Ndi Anioma.

According to the Ndokwa nation, our response to our letter under reference by Anioma Congress was expected to have been more matured since we proffered possible solutions and platform to consolidate Anioma vision, rather they resorted to hate speeches by referring to it as obnoxious.

“We wish to reiterate our position on same and will not be ready to entertain further correspondences on the issue because their utter disregard of the Ndokwa Nation is glaring which gave rise to the ill treatment of Gen. Alabi-Isama (Rtd), who was never allowed to perform his mandate as President, Izu-Anioma, being an Ndokwa indigene.”

According to the Ndokwa nation, it is one of the tripod of Anioma which is Delta North Senatorial District, and should Anioma Congress continue with this scornful tendency, Ndokwa nation will be forced to reconsider her remaining an associate within Anioma.

“Nevertheless, it has become obligatory at this point and in the spirit of oneness, to suggest the reconstitution of Izu-Anioma executives through a credible and transparent election that will be all embracing to facilitate cohesion and continue with the Anioma agenda.”

They asserted that the proposed changed of name at this time when the already organised body is consolidating its political stand in support of second term ambition of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is ill motivated.

Continuing; “All these years, the Ndokwa extraction in Anioma has accepted Izu Anioma as the apex body of Delta North, a body comparable to Urhobo Progress Union, Arewa in the North, Afenife in the South, Ohaneze Ndi Igbo of the East.”

The PGs, further argued that as an already registered body with Corporate Affairs Commission CAC, with it certificate and many landed properties to her credits, it is absurd to start afresh or to be dissolved into another body yet to be registered, due to numerous implications.

According to the PGs, the development of Anioma and her people does not depend on a change of name, rather it is on setting up good agenda and pursuing it vigorously can guarantee progress.
