Isoko South 2: Onwo Promises Greater Commitment to Development of Communities in His Constituency
The Member Representing Isoko South 2 Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon (Chief) Ferguson Onwo has promised greater commitment to attracting more dividends of democracy to communities in his constituency.
Hon Onwo made the promise when he played host to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Igbide Ward Seven Executive and Leaders at the State House of Assembly Complex, Asaba, the State Capital.
The Lawmaker flanked by his counterpart from Isoko South 1 Constituency, Hon Kenneth Ogba, said the state legislature was doing everything possible at ensuring that the prevailing peace in the state was sustained.
Stressing that there must a perfect enabling environment for development to thrive in any society, Hon Onwo urged the PDP Igbide ward Seven Executive and Party leaders to remain united to the cause of developing the community.
Hon Onwo who is the Chairman, House Committee on Housing and Women Development, solicited the support and prayer of Igbide people to actualize his campaign promises.
He said the expectations of the people were very high, even pointed out the need for collaborative efforts of all stakeholders in actualizing the dream of a more developed constituency.
“As a lawmaker, my primary duty is to make laws for the good governance of the state. I am aware that during campaigns I made some promises which I am currently working on to achieve. We must all work together to ensure we achieve the set goals because I can’t do it alone and I am happy you are here to present some of your needs. Even without making a request I must represent my people to the best of my ability”. Onwo stated.
Continuing “Igbide is my home. The bond and the cordial relationship with Igbide people earned me the chieftaincy title of “Akokotu of Igbide kingdom” and I will continue to ensure the existing relationship is strengthened. I am not happy over the deplorable state of the Olomoro-Igbide road and I promised to liaise with relevant authority to ensure the road is constructed”.
In his remarks, Hon Kenneth Ogba, Isoko South 1 Constituency, expressed his readiness to work with other Isoko lawmakers at all levels to attract development to Isoko nation.
He thanked Igbide people for the support given to Hon Onwo in the last election and for ensuring the party won at all the electoral contests.
Earlier, the PDP chairman of Igbide ward Seven, Chief Christopher Ukulubu presented a document containing the needs of Igbide community to Hon Ferguson Onwo and appealed for necessary attention and actions.
Among the delegation were the Secretary, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Chief Mike Edegware, Chief Ovririe, Hon Emamusi Obiodeh, Chief Beatrice Igogo, Hon Sese Omu, Chief Okuegha and Chief Ikolomi amongst others.
