COVID-19: Ighrakpata Cautions Against False Alarm, Commends Okowa’s Effort To Check Spread
The Member Representing Uvwie Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon (Chief) Solomon Ighrakpata has warned against false alarm that could heighten the negative effects of the Coronavirus pandemic on the people.
Hon Ighrakpata who is the Deputy Chief Whip of the House and Chairman House Committee on Special Duties was reacting to the video which went viral on Sunday, March 29, that Covid-19 case was somewhere in his Constituency.
The Lawmaker stated that Covid-19 is presently ravaging the world, saying that unfounded alarms, rumors and unverifiable statements can only create more fears in the mind of the people.
Hon Ighrakpata expressed happiness that the Central Hospital Warri was able to immediately dispel the false alarm, stressing that some symptoms of Covid-19 were similar to other illnesses which are common in the society.
The Uvwie Assembly Member said a suspect must go through all the tests as recommended by the World Health Organisation to ascertain whether positive or negative, and the mode of communication is also well stipulated.
He commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the unrelenting efforts to ensuring that Delta State is free of Covid-19, as well as the establishment of several holding centers across the state in case of any outbreak to immediately curtail it.
The Lawmaker emphasized the need for all critical stakeholders to intensify sensitization and awareness on the dreaded virus and commended the commitments of the Ovie of Uvwie, Emmanuel Sideso Abe 1 (JP OON) and the Chairman, Uvwie local government council, Hon Ramson Onoyake in that regard.
He charged the people not to flout any government directive on the control of the spread of the deadly virus, but obey them to the later for the good of all.
Hon Solomon Ighrakpata who described the period as so inconveniencing and worrisome, expressed optimism that it will soon pass over the people as everybody is eager to return to their normal lives.
