I Have Given My Life to Christ and Do Not Engage the Services of a Mistress – Okowa Clears the Air
By Miracle Enuji
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has finally put paid on a rumour making the rounds flowing from a publication by The Nation newspaper.
He debunked the rumour at the Quarterly Media Interactive session with journalists in Delta State.
Responding to the question as put forward to him by Mr Okungbowa, The Nation Newspaper correspondent in Asaba, the governor noted that the story has no bearing on him as he has given his life to Christ and do not engage the services of paramours.
Below is the transcript of Senator Okowa’s response by the said reporter;
“On the issue a South-South Governor’s mistress, I want to believe and think that you yourself speaking to me don’t believe that story. The party (PDP) has given a response; I don’t want to flog that issue. People who know me as Dr. Okowa know my pattern of life.
I gave my life to Christ several years ago, and I know who I am and I know what I’ve come for and what I stand for. I would not what to join issues with people on this. It is very important that we know that the issues of governance right here
I have come here, I have come to be accountable and in the course of time, and even during the course of this briefing, I can give you details as to what expenditure we made with monies that came from the Paris club.
It is not anything hidden and I think that if you go to the Ministry of Finance or the Accountant-General’s office, I believe that you will be able get details of the monies that were released.
In the first instance, Monies are not released in dollars for any state government. I don’t believe in mistresses, that is not part of me but I am also very much aware that as Governor sitting on this seat, that all kinds and manners of accusations will come.
If Jesus Christ could be accused, then who am I? I can be accused at any point in time. All I believe is that if you could sit back and try to reason, you will be convinced yourself that that story was spurious and again there’s no need talking beyond that.”
It will be recalled that The Nation Newspaper in a publication on Jan 28, 2017 reported that an unnamed South-South Governor was a victim of a love scam by a mistress based in the United States who diverted the loot of the said Governor into hers.
The APC in Delta State was quick to jump on the story and labeled Governor Okowa as the culprit.
