Hon Evance Ochuko Ivwurie Commends Delta First Lady

The Honourable Member Representing Ethiope East at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon (Chief) Evance Ochuko Ivwurie has commended Her Excellency, Dame Mrs. Edith Okowa for graciously giving the kindest and deepest of love for Sickle Cell sufferers in Ethiope East Local Government by setting up a Sickle Cell Clinic to save the lives of sufferers.

Hon Ivwurie gave this commendation at the commissioning of the Sickle Cell Clinic at the Government Baptist Hospital, Eku by the First Lady, assuring Her Excellency of maximum support in seeing that the center is put into proper and effective use.

He said “We are here to support Her Excellency’s determination to stop people from dying from avoidable deaths and this is one of the most difficult job to do. Her Excellency has continued to champion the efforts to give live to people and sufferers that we normally stereotype on a daily basis, to children that we do not normally want to come close to, to the girls and boys that we want to run away from. On behalf of our constituency, on behalf of the marvelous and wonderful people of Ethiope East, we want to thank you for your humility, we want to thank you for your spirit of love, we want to thank you for coming to establish this clinic in Ethiope East and for coming to bless our children and our families”

“Her Excellency, I want to tell you that there is no economic, social or political empowerment that is greater than what you are doing now. I don’t think that there is any point for anybody to doubt why the Government of Delta State is working at a time when many State Governments are broken. There is no doubt that the Governor of Delta State has a pro-people, good and God fearing wife.”

Hon Ivwurie thanked the wonderful people of Ethiope East especially the marvelous fathers, mothers and youth of Eku who graciously supported and approved for him when he approached them and appeal to them to allow the Eku Hospital to be incorporated into the O5 Initiative programme of Her Excellency. He also commended the management of the Hospital for donating the former Isolation Ward for the establishment of the sickle cell clinic instead of building a new ward for this purpose.

Hon. Ivwurie concluded that, “Her Excellency is a living example and a model of God’s love and mercy for Sickle Cell sufferers in Delta State and she has continue to encourage her team to embrace their work as a gift from God and to use it as inspiration for sufferers. Her Excellency, the First Lady of Delta State, Mrs. Edith Okowa is undoubtedly a remarkable woman and extraordinary living grace for Sickle Cell sufferers with many success and survival stories. Her mission to assist the sick and poorest of the poor has brought her today to my Constituency- Ethiope East to render wholehearted love and passionate service to children and everyone suffering from Sickle Cell and she has done this with humility, meekness and servility and it is my prayer that God Almighty will grant her all the blessings attached to service with honor, fame and distinction”.
