Okoloba/Okuama Crisis: Group Writes Governor Oborevwori Over Murder of Four, Threat by Okoloba Community

A political pressure group, Ewu Axis Political Union, has called on the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to come to their rescue on the recent killing of four members of Okuama community in Ughelli south local government area of the State.

An open letter dated 31st January 2024, addressed to the State Governor through the office of the Chief of Staff, asked the governor to act fast as Okoloba community in Bomadi local government area, has concluded plans for a more deadly mission.

This is coming after a visitor was beaten to a pulp few days ago and another round where Okuama women coming from Okwagbe market were mercilessly beaten and subsequent threat to cause mayhem in the community.

Ewu Axis Political Union made their position known in the letter signed by Chief Vincent Oduaran, Minister Omoteregha and Olorogun David Adasen, Chairman, Secretary and national leader respectively.

They asked the governor to come to their aid, as they now sleep with their eyes open as they do not know when Okoloba community would strike again.

They gave the names of those murdered as Igho Meshach, Okiemute David, Power Awusa and the driver of the speedboat whose identity is yet unknown while still holding onto their corpse.

Meanwhile, a Committee chaired by Mr Agagu and a member, Mrs Mercy Ogbobo, has sent relief materials to those particularly women and children displaced from Okuama community by the incessant attacks by Okoloba community.

The relief materials were received by the Vice Chairman of Okuama community, Mr. David Akata.

They called on the governor and security agencies to act quickly to prevent the breakdown of law and order.

They noted that if not for the plea and timely intervention of community leaders and elders, the situation would have gone out of hands as Okuama youths are agitated over the killing of their kinsmen, a situation that may affect the economy of the State if handled with kit gloves.
