Group Celebrates Tompolo’s Court Victory, Urges FG to Release Properties, Funds Confiscated

A group under the aegis of Movement For The Actualisation Of The Dreams Of Niger Deltans (MADND) has congratulated their leader High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (alias Tompolo) over the recent High Court ruling in Lagos acquitting him of all charges.

In a statement signed by the Chairman, Oyakongha Josiah alias (Commander Oyimi) and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Agbobulagha Kagbala, MADND, while describing the ruling as one of the finest rulings they had witnessed in Nigeria, also urged the Federal Government to release all properties and funds it confiscated back to Tompolo, lamenting that the unlawful seizure has impeded and frustrated his (Tompolo) day to day living.

The statement reads in parts; “Now that Tompolo is acquitted and discharged of any wrong doing by the High Court in Lagos, it is proper and normal for the government to return all assets and unfreeze all bank accounts belonging to Tompolo to enable him live a normal life like every other citizen in this country. I also urge everyone who may have had any personal grudges with Tompolo particularly people from the Niger Delta region to grow the heart of forgiveness and foster peace and bring the much needed development to the region”.

Adding that, “The ruling further vindicates Tompolo as a peace loving man the people of Niger Delta known him for. Since the unnecessary pronouncement of the unsavory word “wanted man” to intimidate him, Tompolo has never made any provocative comments or any statement of any kind against the government that caused him into hiding depriving him of living with his lovely family and contributing to the development of the Niger Delta and the country at large.”

“From the beginning, we the Niger Deltans knew that the charges leveled against him were trumped up charges orchestrated by detractors and co-conspirators who doesn’t want the progress of the region and probably want to use the situation to gain prominence and work closer to the powers that be”.

The group further thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for not been swayed by enemies of the Niger Delta region when they tried to manipulate the process to further allow Tompolo to be in continuous hiding, noting that; “we assure Mr. President of Tompolo’s support to see that he (Buhari) deliver on his mandate to all Nigerians particularly the people of Niger Delta. We also wish to remind Mr. President that, Tompolo is an asset you must work with. Now that he is free to traverse the length and breadth of this country; and he is willing and capable to take up any assignment you may wish to entrust in him with as far as the development of the country and the Niger Delta region where he hails from is concern.”

“We use this medium to thank the High Court Judge in Lagos, the Attorney General of the Federation and the current EFCC boss for their impeccable manner displayed in delivering the long awaited favourable judgment. These are the sort of unbiased professionals who can deliver their mandate without fear or favour of any kind. No wonder Mr. President finds you worthy to hold such sensitive offices in his administration full of technocrats. We sincerely say may the Almighty God give you the needed wisdom and strength to deliver more laudable assignments to the admiration of all and sundry like this particular one”. The statement noted.
