Governor Oborevwori Focused on Projects, Unmoved by Critics – Aniagwu
The Delta State Government has reaffirmed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to delivering impactful projects across the state, dismissing distractions from critics.
Speaking at a news conference in Asaba on Monday, March 10, 2025, the State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, emphasized that the Governor’s achievements speak louder than words.
Flanked by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, Aniagwu stated that Governor Oborevwori has consistently chosen to respond to critics with visible projects rather than engaging in verbal exchanges. He highlighted the Governor’s recent inspection tour across the three senatorial districts as further proof of his dedication to development.
“Last week, during our project inspections in Warri, the people gave us a resounding response to those attempting to undermine the Governor’s efforts. Their words were clear: ‘Governor Sheriff Oborevwori dey show workings, nor be chor chor chor,’ meaning it’s about action, not empty talk,” Aniagwu said.
He outlined the projects inspected, including the completed twin Ubu bridges along the Ughelli-Asaba Expressway, which have significantly reduced travel time between Warri and Asaba. The Governor also visited the Isoko Ring Road, Southern Delta University in Ozoro — where the College of Health Sciences is near completion — and the Orerokpe campus, expected to be ready for students by September 2025.
At Omadino Technical College in Warri South, Governor Oborevwori reiterated his administration’s commitment to education as a tool to combat insecurity, assuring that the school would open its doors to students in September. Additionally, he promised to provide CT scans for Central Hospital, Warri; Asaba Specialist Hospital; and Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara.
The Governor also assessed the stormwater drainage around Warri Township Stadium and the three flyover projects being handled by Julius Berger, commending the contractors for keeping to schedule. Further inspections included Orere Bridge, the 47km Ohoror-Bomadi Road, and Edo Road in Ughelli.
Aniagwu noted that Governor Oborevwori’s leadership extends beyond infrastructure, highlighting his successful peace-brokering efforts between the Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities, which had long been at odds over a land dispute. With both communities agreeing to live in harmony, the state government has approved the construction of the Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh Road.
Taking a swipe at the opposition, Aniagwu criticized their attempts to impersonate ethnic groups and spread baseless attacks on the administration. He assured that the Governor remains undeterred, focused solely on governance.
“Governor Oborevwori will not be distracted. We will not mistake politics for governance,” Aniagwu declared, adding that more projects would be approved at the next Executive Council meeting.
He concluded by reinforcing the Governor’s directive that contractors with multiple ongoing projects must prioritize quality and timely delivery, warning that those who fail to meet expectations should not anticipate new contracts.
