Fireworks Still Prohibited In Delta State Says Police Commissioner
The Delta State Police Command has stated that prohibition on fireworks is still effective in the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Adeleke Adeyinka in a press statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, maintained that the ban on the use of fireworks is still in force and that the Command will enforce all extant laws prohibiting the use of fireworks such as “knock-out,” “banger” others.
The CP, while noting that the ban is necessary to safe-guard public safety and avoid distractions to security operatives, especially during the yuletide season.
He advised Parents and Guardians to guide their children and wards appropriately as anyone arrested will be prosecuted according to the law.
The Commissioner also assured Deltans of their safety at all times and implored continued support for the Police and other security agencies in their untiring efforts at providing a peaceful and secure environment for the people.
Fireworks which are generally used in festive seasons especially on Christmas and New Year Day, has in recent times caused body harm to users and destruction to properties. It has also been used as a decoy for criminal activities.
