Delta Seventh Assembly: Ika South Rep., Okoh Commends Constituents For Unflinching Support
Hon. Festus Okoh, member representing Ika South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, has commended his constituents for their unwavering solidarity through the first year of his second term as a lawmaker in the state.
Hon Okoh made this commendation while joining his colleagues in celebrating one year anniversary of the Seventh Assembly of the state on June 10, 2020, appreciating God for his mercies and grace.
The lawmaker popularly known as Chuky Dandy noted that he had every reason to remain thankful to the people of Ika South Constituency for electing him as their representative and also for their cooperation and support, adding that, as a Legislator, he was elected with the responsibility of legislating for his Constituents and supporting bills and motions favourable to them and the state in general.
“As Ika South Constituents, our relationship with one another has been very cordial and impressing and together we will continue to consolidate on the peaceful coexistence for the enabling environment of our constituency. Of course, we have no reason whatsoever to relate on the contrary in cognisance of the fact that we are one indivisible family.
“I will continue to rely on the grace of God and with the support of my people to remain effective in performance of my legislative duty which is in view of the dynamic nature of legislation and other functions associated with my task.
“As legislators, we have made a lot of resolutions and laws that are currently being implemented for the people of our dear state. These resolutions and laws are centered on Education, Health, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Security, Youth empowerment and Poverty alleviation. The aforesaid has been the substance and scope of our precept in the last one year of my second tenure and which have impacted positively on the well being of my people”.
Commending his fellow lawmakers for their cooperation and zeal in the course of working together, Hon Okoh said, “we have diligently as honourable members carried out our legislative mandate in the first one year of this Seventh Assembly to the best of our abilities.”
Hon Festus Okoh appreciated the state governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for the sustainable and cordial relationship with the legislature and commitment to the socio-economic development of the State and called on the Ika South Constituents to remain steadfast in their continuous support and prayers for the governor in delivering solution to the enormous challenges facing the State.
He also commended his political aides and followers for their loyalty, dedication and professionalism, charging them to sustain same as they begin the second year of the Seventh Assembly.
On the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) and current socio-economic difficulties, the lawmaker urged all to look up to God to revive the economy Nigeria, stressing that the economic downturn caused by the pandemic is global and therefore not peculiar to Nigeria only.
He said, “While we sympathize with everyone, we also like to appeal for understanding and prayers. We believe the difficulties are temporary and very soon God will ease the situation. We should not forget to continue to observe the government measures for the fight against the COVID-19”.
