Femi Lazarus: Timi Dakolo Dismisses Authenticity of Gospel Singer’s $10,000 Invoice
Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has reacted to pastor Femi Lazarus’ recent allegations about a gospel singer’s exorbitant demands for a performance.
During his sermon, Lazarus projected an alleged invoice from the singer, which included a $10,000 honorarium, a non-refundable 50% payment, and a first-class flight ticket.
Lazarus stated, “I want the media to project an invoice for a music minister in Nigeria… It says that the minister would be accompanied by a minimum of forty people who will all return the day after the event.”
He further criticized the demands, saying, “Those who know God, know he’s not with ministers like this. Many charlatans don’t bill big pastors, they use them for endorsement. You can’t demand for such without growing.”
Dakolo dismissed the authenticity of the invoice, warning people against being gullible. “Nigerians, you should not believe everything you see. Nobody has a 40-man crew in Nigeria. Name the artist in order to justify capping.”
This is not the first time Dakolo has tackled Lazarus’ stance on paying gospel singers. Earlier in March, he expressed frustration with the discourse, stating that gospel musicians should not be expected to perform for free.
“This gaslighting has to stop, Gospel ministers want good things too, they are not beggars, the best of architects are called upon to build big church, large sum money disbursed for promoting big programs and all. No one should diminish another persons ministry, Ministry needs music and music needs ministry,” he previously wrote.
