Explosion Engulfs Trans-Niger Pipeline in Rivers State
A devastating explosion occurred at the Trans-Niger Pipeline in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, sparking a raging fire along the critical export pipeline.
According to VANGUARD, the incident occurred on Monday night, although the exact cause remains unknown at the time of this report.
The affected section of the pipeline, which transports crude to the Bonny Terminal, is currently ablaze. Authorities have yet to confirm whether the explosion was an act of sabotage, particularly in light of recent threats from militant groups to attack oil installations.
These threats come amid the ongoing political crisis, which has led to the Federal Government withholding Rivers State’s allocation. An investigation into the incident is underway to determine the cause of the explosion.
