Eric Igban Foundation Sensitizes Ugborodo Indigenes On COVID-19, Distributes Preventive Materials
A non governmental organization, Eric Igban Foundation has admonished indigenes of the oil rich Ugborodo communitiy in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, to adhere strictly to every preventive measures against the dreaded Corona Virus pandemic.
The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Dr Andrew Omagbemi Igban gave the charge at the flag off of awareness and sensitization campaign on Covid-19 and distribution of preventive materials against the virus in the localities.
The benefiting communities including, Ode-Ugborodo, Ogidigben, Madangho and Aja-Udaibo, were presented with clinical hand gloves, face masks, sanitizers and other necessary health materials.
The foundation also presented several other gifts items to pregnant women, nursing mothers, women and children, including bath tub, baby clothes, baby bed as well as writing materials, reading chairs and tables.
Dr Andrew Igban in his remarks said Eric Igban Foundation is committed to creating enabling environment for future generation, hence the distribution of the preventive materials to help safe guard the lives of the people.
Igban, an Executive Assistant to Governor Okowa on Community Development, enjoined the people to stay safe by adhering to all preventive measures on the Covid-19 pandemic as recommended by the World Health Organisation.
Emphasizing the popular saying that “Charity Begins At Home” as he hails from Ugborodo, the former PDP Youth Leader and Peace Ambassador recipient, commended the efforts so far by the Delta State Government to prevent the spread of the virus to the state.
Dr Igban appealed to the people to abide by the directives of government on the Covid-19 pandemic as well as to avoid unnecessary travels, maintain social distancing and make use of preventive materials provided to them.
He stated that besides the preventive materials, the other items presented to women and children were meant to assist in providing such basic necessities as attention may basically be on food.
Dr Igban noted that the writing materials, chairs and tables are to aid learning process for children during the long holiday as a result of the stay at home order over the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country.
The beneficiaries thanked the foundation for it benevolence by the donation of the preventive materials and for coming to share vital information as regards the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.
They called for swift government intervention in provision of food and other necessities at this trying times, noting that prices of goods have risen beyond proportion due to the lockdown directive of Government.
