Eid-el-Fitr: Reps Minority Caucus Congratulates Nigerians, Urges Peaceful Co-existence
The Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives has congratulated Muslims on the completion of Holy Ramadan fasting and urged Nigerians to use the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitr to rekindle hope in the unity of the country.
The caucus in a Statement signed by the Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, urged Nigerians, especially the leaders to deploy the imbibed lessons of self-restrain and trust in God to engender honesty, justice, mutual respect, tolerance, peaceful co-existence as well as love and care for one another, in line with the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohammed.
“Indeed, we must, as a people, instill such virtues in our everyday life in order to salvage and stabilize our nation at this critical time.
“Against this backdrop our caucus charges leaders at all levels, to rededicate themselves to a life of selfless service, honesty and transparency in all their dealings.
“In the same vein, we urge that the essence of Eid-el-Fitr permeates the fabrics of our national life and spur love for one another, particularly in reaching out to the downtrodden, especially the victims of escalated acts of violence in our country.
“Our caucus also implores those behind the mindless acts of terrorism to turn a new leaf and note that their actions can never be justified under any guise,” the Caucus stated.
They prayed for the nation and wished all Muslim faithful a blessed Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
