Edo Police Arrest Kidnappers of Ogba Zoo Director

Men of Edo state police anti kidnapping squad have arrested four suspects who allegedly kidnapped  the Director of Ogba Zoo, Benin City, Mr. Andy Ehanire.

The suspects were arrested Thursday October 26, 2017 in Sapele. They were alleged to have collected 25 Million Naira and 100,000 dollars as ransom bringing the total ransom to 61 Million Naira. 

The suspects which include the driver of the gang and three others said they had to kill the policemen to facilitate the kidnap of Ehanire as their earlier attempt  failed because of the security around him. The sum of eight hundred thousand Naira (N800,000) was recovered from the wife of one of the suspects who is now in police custody for conspiracy.

The Edo state police command Public Relations Officer, DSP Nnkombe who confirmed the rest said the suspects have made confessional statements and stated that six of them were involved in the kidnap of Ehanire.

The Police PRO assured that the police is closing in on the two remaining members of the gang adding that they will soon be arrested.

It will be noted that in less than seventy two hours of assumption of duty by a new police commissioner in Edo state, CP Johnson Babatunde Kokumo, the state police command has recorded major breakthroughs in prevention and detection of crime.
