DESOPADEC Projects: Okorodudu Hails Governor Oborevwori’s Commitment to Infrastructure in Oil Communities


The Executive Director of Projects (EDP) at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, has lauded the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for the significant infrastructure advancements in oil-producing communities facilitated by the Commission.

During a media briefing on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, following his project inspection tour in Burutu Local Government Area, Dr. Okorodudu credited the successes to the unwavering support of the Governor.

He remarked, “Our hardworking Governor, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, deserves recognition for his dedication to DESOPADEC’s mission of fostering infrastructure and human capital development in our oil-producing regions.”

At Burutu, the headquarters of the local government area, Dr. Okorodudu assessed the progress on the library and skills acquisition center under construction. He assured that all obstacles hindering the project’s completion would be addressed to ensure timely commissioning.

Earlier, Qs. William Oyimi, the Head of the Housing Department, briefed the EDP on the progress made since the project’s award in 2014, while noting the challenges of incorporating complementary buildings into the budget.

Other projects inspected included a newly completed reinforced concrete landing jetty with dual walkways at Bemugbene, Warri South West LGA, and the ongoing construction of seven two-bedroom semi-detached bungalows in Ijansa community, also in Warri South West LGA.

A community leader, Mr. Tumbo Anthony, expressed gratitude for the jetty’s completion, emphasizing its benefit over previous wooden jetties. However, he appealed for a concrete road linking the jetty to the community as part of the M.O.R.E Agenda.

Dr. Okorodudu acknowledged the challenges faced by contractors operating in riverine areas and called for timely payments to ensure smooth project execution.

The tour concluded with a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Burutu LGA, Hon. Chief Julius Takeme, at the council’s secretariat. Dr. Okorodudu briefed him on the Commission’s activities in the area, commending the Chairman’s open-door governance approach. Hon. Chief Takeme expressed gratitude for the visit and pledged collaboration with DESOPADEC to advance development in the region.
