By Favour Chukwunoyenim

The Delta State chairman of the Young Democratic Party (YDP) Barr. Festus Ofume, has lambasted certain persons in the PDP whom he allege to be the brains behind a campaign of calumny against him and the YDP.

In a press release signed by David Ezeh, the media aide to the Chairman, Ofume stated that information at his disposal is that the derogatory post against him originated from a PDP group WhatsApp page “BRIDGE BUILDERS” and circulated online particularly on Facebook by DELTA IGORUH which he described as an amorphous and faceless political group of the Delta State Chapter of the PDP.

Hon. Ofume identified the author and sponsor of the post as selfish individuals within the PDP who are scared of the rising popularity of the YDP and have tried in vain to purchase the YDP and its state Chairman.

In response to the allegations that he was a government contractor,  Barr. Festus Ofume stated that he is an accomplished lawyer and has never executed  any contract for the Delta State Government. He challenged the sponsors of the publication to produce any evidence to the contrary.

The party chairman also described the allegation that he once duped  his brother of hard currency as laughable as his brother earns his pay in Naira.

Barr Ofume urged Deltans to disregard the antics of the PDP and its leaders who chose to fabricate lies against him and his brother at a time they are mourning the death of their father who died on the 27th of September 2017.

He concluded by assuring Deltans that the YDP remained focused on its cause of enthroning good governance via responsible leadership in order to halt the downward drift of Delta State under the PDP administration over the past 18 years by providing an alternative platform that will meet the yearnings and aspirations of Deltans.
