Delta State to Hold Special Environmental Sanitation Exercise
It is hereby announced for the information of the General Public particularly Deltans that His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State, has declared Saturday December 17, 2016, as a Special Environmental Sanitation Day Exercise in the State.
The aim of the exercise is to ensure that both public and private premises in the State are kept clean during this year’s Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The exercise will hold between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00am.
During the period of the exercise, there will be no restriction on the movement of persons and vehicles.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Barr. John Nani will lead staff of the Ministry and other relevant government agencies to monitor the exercise, while officials of the State Waste Management Board and Local Government Councils are to evacuate the resultant refuse to approved government dump sites.
The Chairmen and Councilors’ of Local Government Council are by this announcement advised to ensure that residents in their various Local Government Areas observe the exercise.
Residents of the State are advised to use the period of the exercise to keep their surroundings clean.
