Delta State Job and Wealth Creation Bureau, Okowa’s Gift To Future Administrations – Elekeokwuri
The lawmaker representing Ika North East constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, DTHA, Hon Anthony Elekeokwuri has lauded the passage of the Delta State Job and Wealth Creation Bureau Bill by the State Assembly saying that, the institutionalization of Governor Okowa’s job creation policy will serve future administrations.
Speaking to journalists after the passage of the bill at the Assembly Complex, Asaba, Hon Elekeokwuri said, “job creation is part of the Smart Agenda of Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa. At the level of policies, they have done well, they have records to show and based on that records and what they have achieved as a bureau, what we have done today is to institutionalize what had been done and to make sure they do better by legalizing it in a way and manner that even long after he has left office, it will continue to be. Job and wealth creation in the state will be a part and parcel of our system.”
Stressing that the future of job creation in the state is now guaranteed, the lawmaker added that, “it will now be paramount in any government that the young ones are employed and also get them to become entrepreneurs. That is all what the law is set to achieve and we are making sure that we organize them in an institutional manner.”
Hon Elekeokwuri who represents the constituency of Governor Okowa, noted that the second tenure of the Governor has shown that experiences have come to play in terms of governance, commending him of training and creating over 4,500 entrepreneurs in the Job and Wealth Creation programme in his first term.
“The Job Creation during the First Tenure of Governor Okowa is fantastic, the records are there. Over 4,500 persons have been trained in STEP and YAGEP and we have also created entrepreneurs out of them. We have created jobs and also created job creators.
“The multiplier effect of the Job creation is what is interesting. If you go to the places of work or shops of those who are entrepreneurs, you will see 3,4,5 persons being employed and other people are being trained. That is exactly what it is to be in government.”
On the expectations of Deltans on the future of the Job and Wealth Creation Bureau, Hon Anthony Elekeokwuri said, “whatever we are doing, whatever we have done at the level of policy, is now a law in the state. Whether we like it or not, the youths are supposed to be employed in a creative manner. The idea of job creation should be endemic and it should be a law to that effect whether in is this particular government or beyond.”
The passage of the Delta State Job and Wealth Creation Bureau Bill, is the first bill passed by the Seventh Assembly of the Delta State House of Assembly since its inauguration on June, 10 2019.
