Delta State Govt Approves Payment of Salary Arrears for Primary School Teachers


The Delta State Executive Council at its valedictory meeting on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, heralding the end of the First Tenure of the Okowa led administration, gave approvals for some projects and others.

At a post EXCO briefing, the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Chief Patrick Ukah told journalists that the Delta State Government has approved the payment of outstanding salaries for local government workers, including arrears of Primary School Teachers.

According to Ukah, “The Delta State Government approved the payment of the Old Minimum wage arrears owed Primary School teachers in the State for April 2011 to June 2012”, adding, “the State Government also gave approval to settle the outstanding salaries arrears of Local Government employees and Primary School Teachers in the State”.

The Commissioner further announced that Delta State Government gave approvals to DESOPADEC for awards of contracts for the construction and furnishing of 10 units 5-bedroom bungalow and 4 unit 2-bedroom semi-detached bungalows at Okerenkoko Federated Community (Phase II) in Warri South West local Government Area and construction of Health Care Center and Doctors’ quarters at Utonila in Warri North.

He added that the State Government also gave approval for the construction of Olobe-Bobi-Orubu-Orere concrete walkway using dry cast cement (Phase II) in Warri South West.

The appointment of his Royal Majesty, Ajegherese Samuel Otidi as Odion-Ologbo of Okpolo Enhwe Kingdom in Isoko South Local Government Area and the amendment of the existing declaration of the Kingdom was also approved by EXCO.
