Delta State Government Commence Road Repairs in Abraka


Delta State Government has commenced repair works on the bad portion of Agofure Motor Park to the Delta State Assisted Mass Transport Park in Abraka along the Agbor-Abraka-Eku Express Road.

The Honourable member representing Ethiope East State Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. (Chief) Evance Ochuko Ivwurie, led an inspection team to the repair site to ascertain the level of work being carried out.

According to the Lawmaker, he said that “This precise portion of the road has been a nightmare to my constituents and travellers who make use of the road. I am happy that repair work has commenced on this road especially in this portion while the Federal Government has also commenced survey work on the road in preparation for the dualization of the road”.

The honourable commended the state government for its quick response and encouraged the site engineer to see to it that the project is completed to the best standard.

It will be recalled that in September this year, Hon. Ivwurie forwarded a Petition to the Honourable Minister of Works, Power and Housing, His Excellency, Babatunde Fashola (SAN) on the bad state of the Federal Roads which cut across the two States of Delta and Edo, two Senatorial Districts of Delta Central and Delta North and seven local government areas in Delta State including our own Ethiope East.

As a follow up, He also moved a motion on the floor of the Delta State House of Assembly, calling on the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, senator Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to as a matter of urgency, urge His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to direct the Honourable Minister of Power, Works and Housing, His Excellency, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) to, without delay, return the contractors back to site for the immediate repairs and reconstruction of the subject roads, using the best global methods for road construction.
