Delta State Government Advocates For Its Pride Of Place In Oil Production
The Delta State Government has restated the need for proper recognition of the state as a leading Oil and Gas producing states in the country.
The Commissioner, Ministry of Oil and Gas, Hon. Freeman Fregene who stressed on this at the site reopening and ground breaking of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company Cooperative Society Real Estate Project in Benin City, Edo state, said “Delta must take its rightful place in the comity of oil and gas producing states”.
The Commissioner who represented Governor Ifeanyi Okowa at the foundation laying of the project tagged “NPDC-SMPCS Golden City Vision” stated that Delta State is peaceful for investment.
Mr Fregene who commended the NPDC Cooperative Society and its partners for the project, advocated that the Golden City Project should be replicated in Delta State.
The Commissioner emphasized that the Okowa’s led administration was all out ready and committed to go into partnership with corporate bodies and individuals who wished to drive investment in the state.
“Delta State is host to chunk of NPDC operations and I will appreciate if a project of this gigantic nature is also sited in the state. I must commend the initiative as it would not only promote social economic development in impacted communities but also provide employment to the people”. Fregene said.
Fregene admonished the handlers of the mega real estate project to consider indigenes of Delta State in the area of engagement of permanent and adhoc workers in the sites of the project.
The Commissioner for wealth creation, Edo state, Hon Emmanuel Usoh who represented Governor Godwin Obaseki at the event stressed the commitment of the Edo state government towards sustainable development in the state.
The President, NPDC SMPCS, Mr Amos Mabur said the project initiated about five years ago was conceived with the vision of providing qualitative and affordable housing for NNPC staff and other interested individuals.
The ceremony was attended by a cross section of the society including a representative of Oba of Benin and development partners including real estate managers and banks executives.
