Delta PDP Condemns Zik Gbemre’s Baseless Attack on Governor Oborevwori
The Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed a recent attack on Governor Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori by Zik Gbemre, describing it as a misplaced rage.
In a statement signed by the State Secretary, Engr. Dan Ossai, the party said it would not have dignified the attack with a response if it didn’t reference the PDP. The party likened Gbemre’s diatribe to the rage of the heathen, quoting Psalm 2, which asks why people plot against the Lord and His Anointed.
The party condemned the ill-mannered language used by Gbemre, who exposed his penchant for irreverence and lack of acceptable behavior. While refusing to waste time responding to Gbemre and his sponsors, the party cleared some incongruences in his ill-tempered offering.
The party noted that Gbemre is not in government and lacks understanding of the intricacies involved in the Okuama matter. However, President Bola Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief, understands the situation, and Governor Oborevwori has made significant progress in resolving the issue.
The party commended Governor Oborevwori for remaining focused and achieving a breakthrough with the recent announcement of the Nigerian Army’s withdrawal from Okuama. The party also highlighted the governor’s achievements, including the N78 billion contract awarded to Julius Berger to give Warri a facelift, completion of ongoing projects, employment of 2,000 school teachers, payment of civil servants and pensioners, and ongoing road construction across the state.
The party described Gbemre’s attack as infantile and misplaced, and thanked Deltans for ignoring it and keeping faith with Governor Oborevwori and the PDP.
