Delta PDP Commissions Peace Committee For Isoko North PDP Crisis


Following unabated fued within leaders and members of Isoko North Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Delta PDP State Working Committee has set up a Peace and Reconciliation Committee to settle warring factions.

The move to resolve the lingering crisis was contained in a press statement signed by state publicity secretary, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza, which stated that a 5-Man committee has been inaugurated with a mandate to finding lasting peace in the local chapter of the party.

The statement obtained by this medium reads that, “Arising from a meeting of the State Working Committee held on the 15th June, 2021 at the Party Secretariat, Asaba. The Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has today, 16th June, 2021 inaugurated a Peace and Reconciliation Committee to address the lingering crisis that has disrupted the smooth operations of the Party in Isoko North Local Government Area.

“The Five-member committee comprises: Chief Edwin Uzor, as Chairman and Hon. Timi Tonye as Secretary, while Barr. Andrew Orugbo, Mrs. Vivian Ogheneovo, and the incumbent State Publicity Secretary of the party, Dr. Ifeanyi M. Osuoza, will all serve as Members.

“Accordingly, the terms of reference for the Isoko North Peace and Reconciliation committee include: To look into the circumstances surrounding the accusations and counter-accusations within the leadership and followership of our Party, PDP with a view to fostering lasting peace within the Party and to recommend where necessary, any further steps that are needed to be taken in the present circumstance.”

It added that, “The State Working Committee further directs that all previous efforts towards resolving the party’s internal crisis in the LGA, including the setting up of a fact-finding committee, stands suspended forthwith in order to create a level playing field and a fair hearing for all parties involved and mandates the Reconciliation Committee to attend to all issues and report same to the State Working Committee, within three weeks from the date of its inauguration.”
