Delta NUJ Appoints Prince Ned Nwoko as Patron

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Delta State Council on Saturday 12th May, 2018, at the Mount Ned Resort, Idumuje Ugboko, presented a commemorative plaque to Hon. Ned Nwoko for his acceptance to be a Patron to the members of the fourth estate of the realm.

It could be recalled that, Ned was appointed as the Patron during the NUJ Press Week last year by the Union, but the presentation was scheduled for today, the 12th of May, 2018.

Presenting the plaque, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, flanked by his Executive members, explained that Ned was considered to be one of their Patrons because of his selfless services to humanity and untainted personality. He described Ned as a humble, conscientious and incorruptible politician who has over the years been rendering selfless services to Nigerians, irrespective of tribe, creed and sex.

Responding, Ned thanked the Union for the honour bestowed on him and informed the Executive of the NUJ, that, henceforth, the relationship will be mutual.

Ned acknowledged the harsh working environment of the Journalists in Nigeria but charged them to strive to maintain the minimal standard expected of them, as the members of the fourth estate of the realm through exposure of corrupt practices, maintaining that crimes must be punished by the government and the society to serve as deterrent.

Finally, he reiterated that, his mission for aspiring to represent the good people of Anioma at the Senate, is just to serve.
