Delta Lawmakers Unanimously Pass Vote of Confidence in Governor Oborevwori
The Delta State House of Assembly has Unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, commending him for his developmental strides and welfare programs for civil servants across the state.
The motion was moved by the Majority Leader, Hon Emeka Nwaobi, on Wednesday 12 March, 2025, and was seconded by Hon Alapala Anthony Ebitonmo, member representing Burutu state constituency.
The lawmakers congratulated the governor for his efforts, highlighting the approval of N275 billion for the state’s development, they agreed that the governor’s initiatives have reportedly touched every local government area in the state.
In another development, the House read the Delta State Complimentary and Alternative Medicine Regulation Bill, 2024 (HB 30) for the second time.
The lead sponsor of the bill Hon Chief Ferguson Onwo stated that the motion to alter the name of the Traditional Medicine Board, seeks to change the perception that traditional medicine is “fetish”.
The proposed change seeks to generate revenue for the state and regulate the activities of traditional medical practitioners.
This motion received support from various members.
Speaker Guwor Emomotimi referred the bill to the Special committee on bills, to report back on April 1st, 2025.
