Delta Guber Aspirant, Ofobruku Congratulates New PDP NWC, Predicts Massive Victory For Party In 2023
A strong contender for the governorship seat of Delta State come 2023, Hon Efe Ofobruku has said that the new national working committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by Senator Iyorchia Ayu, is composed of political strategists that are experienced and capable of driving the process that will lead to the party clinching power again at the centre in 2023.
Speaking exclusively on Monday at his country home in Effurun, headquarters of Uvwie Local Government Area of the state, Hon Ofobruku said the new national chairman of the PDP, Senator Ayu knows what it takes to win a presidential election.
“I want to congratulate our party the PDP nationwide. The PDP you know is one big umbrella for one big family. I want to congratulate the PDP even in the diaspora for a successful convention. The naysayers were expecting rancour.
“This is one convention that has been rancour-free. I want to welcome the new national leadership for their emergence and we are trusting that the confidence we have reposed in them will get the desired result.
“Senator Ayu is leading a team of people who have played in the ‘political Champions League’ before, now driving the process of playing in the Champions League.
“They have experienced it and they have seen it all. These are people who are not new to the industry especially those that I know are veterans.
“The new national chairman is someone who has contested elections before. He was one-time Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was at different times minister and headed the Presidential Campaign of certain individuals in time past.
“So, he is somebody who has tested politics from different angles, held different offices and understands the game of politics. He knows what it takes to manage the party administratively and politically. His CV is very robust and his pedigree speaks for him.”
Ofobruku, a two-time lawmaker of the Delta State House of Assembly particularly congratulated the Deputy National Organising Secretary of the PDP, Senator Ighoyota Amori, who he described as a political giant in Delta State.
“This is a man who has been saddled with the responsibility of mobilising men, women and resources for several elections. His someone who has organised different groups and senatorial district to canvass votes across the state for governorship aspirants.
“So, we have a team that is largely made up of people with experience, tested and trusted. People who we believe their combination will give us the desired results. I want to assure Nigerians particularly Deltans that they have nothing to worry about. Don’t forget, PDP is Delta, Delta is PDP,” said Ofobruku.
Ofobruku, who represented Uvwie Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly noted that the rancour-free outcome of the just concluded national convention of the PDP is a pointer that the party is on the match again to rescue Nigerians from the terrible mess the All Progressives Congress, APC, has plunged the nation Nigeria into since taking over power at the centre in 2015.
“There is a lot of burden on us as a party because Nigerians are looking up to us to show direction and we are very much prepared. And that is exactly what we are doing.
“I want to assure you that with the emergence of the new leadership, you will see things will begin to change. We are like a team preparing for the Champions League. As you can see, we are buying players and equally recruiting a new technical crew.
“So, PDP is really in the process of rescuing Nigerians. You need no prophet to tell you that. What we are telling Nigerians is that you have seen the difference. Nigerians are like a man who had a wife and sent her away and took another one. Now he knows the difference. Nigerians are the ones actually propelling, pushing PDP to see how they can come back to power. The man Nigeria is on the verge of taking his former wife, his first love,” said the outspoken governorship aspirant.
On the chances of Delta Central Senatorial producing the next governor of Delta State, Hon Ofobruku said he remains the best candidate to occupy the Government House in Asaba come 2023.
He said, “We are together in Delta Central. There are no two ways about it. Don’t forget any good thing people struggle for it.
“People will definitely indicate interest, they will struggle for it but, just like the Bible says “Many are called but few are chosen”. Many persons will come out for governor but only one person is good enough for the job at this particular point in time.
“I am that one person that has the pedigree, political nohow, sagacity, political experience, reach and acceptability. The man that will act as the bridge that will connect the people of Delta State from where we are today to where we ought to be.”
