Delta Govt Approves Over N3bn for Procurement of Medical Equipment in General Hospitals

The Delta state government has approved over N3 billion for the procurement of medical equipment across 20 General Hospitals within the state.

The state Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza disclosed this information to journalists during a press briefing on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, following the state executive council meeting chaired by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in Asaba.

Dr. Osuoza also announced that the executive council approved the release of funds for the 2022/2023 session bursary scheme, which is set to benefit over 30,000 students with an amount of N20,000 each.

Furthermore, he disclosed that Exco approved an upward revision of the contract for the uncompleted library unit within the basic sciences building at the College of Health Sciences, Oghara, in the Ethiope West local government area of the state.

Dr. Osuoza said: “There is approval for the upward revision of the contract for the procurement of medical equipment at 20 general hospitals in Delta state. Additionally, there is an upward revision of the contract for the uncompleted library unit within the basic sciences building at the College of Health Sciences, Oghara, in the Ethiope West local government.”

Speaking at the briefing, the state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme outlined the equipment to be supplied to the General Hospitals, including bedside lockers, delivery beds, blood pressure monitors, and beds, among others. He also noted that this procurement marks the second phase of equipment supply.

In a related development, the Commissioner for Works (Rural and Riverine Roads), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, revealed that the state government has also allocated over N2 billion to compensate individuals whose properties are within the right of way for the Enerhen/Effurun flyover.
