Delta at 32: Guwor Assures Legislative Support to Fast-track Oborevwori’s Development Agenda


Speaker Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has assured of the commitment of the State Legislature to encourage policies and programmes that would further promote peace, unity, prosperity and good governance in the state.

Speaking on the 32nd Anniversary of the creation of Delta State by General Ibrahim Babangida led military administration in 1991, Rt Hon Guwor congratulated Deltans on the anniversary and expressed strong optimism of a brighter future in the state.

The Speaker, particularly felicitated with the Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevrwori for being at the helm of affairs during the 32nd anniversary of the creation of the state, saying that the MORE agenda of the administration promises to consolidate on the gains of the past administrations in the state.

While urging the people to keep hope alive and support the government to succeed, Guwor assured that the 8th Assembly would sustain the sound cordial relationship with the Executive arm of government to further encourage democratic governance in the state as well as accelerated development, even in the remotest part of the state.

“We have lived together as a people despite the multi-ethnic nature of the state. Love and unity of purpose have kept us together as one. This love and unity I pray shall continue amongst us for peace and development to thrive in the state.

“I want to encourage us all to keep hope alive. The MORE agenda of Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration will further consolidate on the gains of the past administration, and usher in more and greater development across the nook and crannies of the state”, Guwor stated.

The Speaker assured that the 8th Assembly under his leadership shall remain firm in performance of its legislative functions, saying that Members are very united on the need for sustained peace, unity and good governance in the state.

“We shall continue to synergise with the Executive to ensure sustainable growth and development in the state. Every Bill, Motion and Resolution of the House must be for the interest of the state and its people. Our Oversight Function will be enhanced to ensure effective implementations of government policies and programmes.

“Delta State is one of the fastest growing states in the country and this leading position we will strive to maintain in the comity of states. All we ask for is support and understanding of the people. With such support and understanding, more positive impacts would be made in the lives of the people as well as growth and development of physical infrastructures in the state.

“Once again, on behalf of the Leadership and Members of the Delta State Assembly and its workforce, I congratulate our amiable Governor and the people of the state on the 32nd anniversary celebration of the creation of the state and pray God to keep the state on the path of progress and development”, Guwor stated.
