Delta Assembly Members Give Thanks As Oborevwori Calls on Nigerians To Put God First

The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has urged Nigerians to always put God first in all that they do, harping that with God all things are possible.

The Speaker gave this charge on Sunday at the Second Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the Sixth Assembly which held at the Living Faith Church, Ibusa Road, in the State Capital, Asaba.

Hon. Oborevwori said; “We are here today to thank God for our journey so far in the Delta State House of Assembly. God has been very faithful to us; you cannot do anything without God. Nigerians must put God first in all that they do and this is why we came here today to thank Him for what He has done for the Delta State House of Assembly and what He will still do for us in the House”.

According to the Speaker who had earlier taken the Bible reading from Psalm 100: 1-5, the essence of the Thanksgiving Service was to appreciate God for His good works and implored Deltans to continue to support the State Government.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who was at the Thanksgiving service, congratulated the Speaker and Members of the House on the occasion of the Second anniversary of the Sixth Assembly.

Okowa noted that the House has worked diligently with God and the Executive arm, praying God to give the State Government the grace to succeed in this time of economic recession, stating that the lawmakers deserved to give thanks to God for seeing them through despite the economic hardship, the Governor stressed the need for them to seek forgiveness wherever they may have gone wrong.

“This is a trying moment for us, but His Grace is sufficient for us. The Lord has been faithful to us. We deserve to give Him praise. The right thing to do is to thank God always”.

“Members of the House of Assembly have worked with me diligently. The Lord has been very good to us. Let us put God first in all that we do. God will keep us together. Let us be prayerful always.”

In a sermon by Pastor Julius Oyinloye, he stressed the importance of thanksgiving and told the people to always celebrate what is good. He added that each time they gave thanks they were asking God for more things to come.

“The Glory of God must be given to Him. Everytime you give thanks to God, you are asking for more.Give thanks always for everything” Pastor Oyinloye said.

Present at the Thanksgiving were top Government officials in the State and PDP Members of the National Assembly.
