Delta Assembly Committed to the Provision of Potable Water to Deltans – Uviejitobor


The Delta State House of Assembly has stressed the need for the provision of potable water across the state.

The Chairman, House Committee on Water Resources Development, Hon Peter Uviejitobor stated this during the inaugural meeting of the committee at the Delta State House of Assembly Complex in Asaba.

Hon Uviejitobor who represents Udu Constituency in the House said availability of potable water in the state must be given a top priority.

The Lawmaker flanked by four members of the Committee including Honorables Emmanuel Sinebe, Austin Uroye, Asupa Forteta and Charles Oniyere, re-echoed the popular saying that “Water is life”, maintaining that the sector should be accorded required attention.

Hon Uviejitobor promised that his Committee will strive to ensuring adequate budgetary provisions to the Ministry of Water Resources Development in the 2020 state budget.

He noted that there was the need to make all the Water Schemes across the state functional to ensuring uninterrupted and adequate water supply to the people.

Hon Peter Uviejitobor urged members of the committee to be committed to the task ahead, stressing that the target is to leave a lasting legacy in the sector at the end of the Seventh Assembly.

The Lawmaker called for ideas that will move the sector forward in the state, saying that availability of potable water to Deltans is a major aspect of Stronger Delta drive of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
