Delta 2023: My Prayers, Wish For Deltans – Mrakpor SAN
By Miracle Enuji
As the race for the 2023 gubernatorial polls heats up, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Delta State, Peter Mrakpor SAN, has expressed his best wishes for Deltans highlighting the qualities the next Governor of the state should possess.
Mrakpor while categorically hinting that the person should be a representation of God’s choice for Deltans, stressed that the next governor should be able to improve on what the present Governor Okowa administration is doing across the state.
The distinguished legal practitioner and recipient of numerous honours and awards, disclosed this to Journalists of the Indigenous Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Delta State Council during a courtesy visit to his office at the State Ministry of Justice, Headquarters in Asaba on Friday, May 7, 2021.
Responding to the question of his perceived ambition for the number one seat in the state, Mrakpor said, “On the Morning of the primaries, we will know those who are running because human life is in God’s hands. No man can boast of tomorrow but the only prayer I have is, God should give us a governor who will improve on what Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is doing. That is my only prayer for Delta State.
“But as to the who, God knows…, Of course I also hear rumours, I see write ups and people ask me, and I tell them that, let’s trust God with our future. As a person, I only pray for the best for our people. I believe that leadership is a very serious business. If any person becomes Governor of a state like Delta, there will be crisis.
“What we pray to God is, God should look at everybody in the state of over 4 million Deltans, and pick the person that will represent his interest. That is my prayer because a man who represents God’s interest, will care for his people. If you are a leader that don’t love God, you can not love and care for people. That is my prayer point”.
