Delta 2020 Budget Will Promote Fiscal Stability In The State – Ighrakpata
The Deputy Chief Whip of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon (Chief) Solomon Ighrakpata says the proposed 2020 Delta State Appropriation Law will promote fiscal stability and accountability in the state.
Speaking with newsmen after plenary in his office at the State House of Assembly Complex in Asaba, Hon Ighrakpata who represents Uvwie Constituency in the House and Chairman, House Committee on Special Duties, said the budget estimate will help achieve the stronger Delta vision of the Okowa’s led administration.
The Lawmaker described the budget estimate which stands on a tripod, Peace, Progress and Prosperity, as a budget of hope and sustainable development, saying that the vision to industrialize the state was commendable.
Hon Ighrakpata expressed optimism that the proposed budget will accelerate rural and urban integration, urban renewal and growth through provision of basic infrastructure needed in urban cities.
He stated that many ongoing projects would be completed next year as seventy five percent of the two hundred and seventeen point six billion naira of the capital expenditure is for completion of on going projects across the state.
Hon Ighrakpata explained that his constituency will benefit greatly in that regards as key ongoing projects in Uvwie and environs will be completed as well as embark on new ones.
The Lawmaker noted that the Uvwie-Warri Storm Project is a Master Stroke and expected to commence in the first quarter of next year as it was captured in the proposed budget.
Hon Ighrakpata maintained that the proposed budget is consistent with Okowa’s administration’s agenda to spend more on projects and programs that would impact directly on the socio economic well being of the people.
The Lawmaker stressed that the environment must be peaceful and friendly for development to thrive in the state, pointing out that the two major sources of funding the proposed budget is internally generated revenue and statutory allocation.
Hon Solomon Ighrakpata said the two sources can only grow in an atmosphere of peace and stability and appealed for continued support of Deltans for peace, progress and development to thrive in the state.
