Delta 2019: PDP Stakeholder Decries Affronts On Pressure Groups By Party Officials
A stakeholder of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned in strong terms, affronts on pressure groups within the party, adjudging such actions to be deliberate attempt to destroy the party’s unity and democracy.
Pioneer Secretary of the ‘National Electoral Committee’ of the PDP (1999), Mr Jahswill Asaba, yesterday described the affronts as nauseating that party officials who are expected to give moral and financial support to all support groups are sending threat messages to frustrate, disperse and dissuade willing participants from belonging to pressure groups.
According to him, he has tracked all such party officials who engaged in what he termed gross anti-party behavior to account for indiscretion.
He said, “In this regard, a strongly worded petition shall be sent to the leader of the party, His Excellency, Sen Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the State Chairman, and the Chairman, South South Zone to demand stiff sanctions against any party official found to have sent out such an SMS. And by this medium, I wish  to call on all loyal partymen who are privy to or who received any such SMS’ to either come forward or inbox me with proof.”
“This heinous act is not only condemnable but sanctionable and culprits must not be allowed a free market. Let it be stated also in unambiguous terms that no party official has the right to brand his personal enemies, enemies of His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. As a party official, your personal enemies are only for yourself.”
“Those contesting elections but are busy recruiting enemies are also at liberty to do so. And yes, feel free to build electoral Mexican walls; but build only for yourself. Leave His Excellency out of it. Okowa is extending hands of friendship to every political divide and leaning, remote or near small or big & nobody should recruit enemies for him.”
“For those who assume have won already even before the 2019 general elections, and therefore, does not need the support & vote of some people, fine. Nobody is arguing with you. Go and continue to celebrate and savour your victory in advance.”
“Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is not merrymaking but working hard to win. Okowa believes he cannot do it alone and craves support from all Deltans to be their Governor in 2019.” He added.
