2019: David Atie Wins APC Ticket for Warri North Constituency, Promises Better Representation
Hon. David Atie has emerged as the House of Assembly candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Warri North constituency, Delta State ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Hon. Atie got 169 votes out of the accredited 286 delegates to emerge the winner of the intra-party contest, while Eyeoyibo Bemigho who had earlier stepped down his ambition for him few minutes to the commencement of the exercise, got one vote as four votes were confirmed invalid.
Declaring Atie winner at Iwere College Koko, venue of the primaries on Saturday, October 6, 2018 the returning officer, Alexander Onyekeni, said that the electoral process was free, fair and unprecedented.
Onyekeni lauded the delegates for their patience and understanding and urged them not to relent in their effort in ensuring that APC wins subsequent elections in the State.
He maintained that the party was poised to strengthen democracy and make life better for all and sundry in the country through the provision of basic amenities, infrastructural development and creating enabling environment for promotion of commerce and industry.
Atie in his acceptance speech thanked party leaders and members for trusting him with their votes and thereafter sought their support for him to succeed in the general elections.
He promised the people of Warri North constituency better representation if elected into the House.
He said: “At this point in Warri North, we need quality representation. We need someone who will represent the people’s interest and not individualistic interest. When I get to the House of Assembly, our basic needs in this constituency will be thoroughly addressed.
Hon. Atie also expressed excitement over the emergence of former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan as the candidate of the APC for Delta South Senatorial seat for next year’s election.
