Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Group, has unveiled the first sample of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.

This significant announcement took place today, Tuesday, September 3,2024, during a broadcast from his refinery in the Ibeju-Lekki Area of Lagos State. The refinery, which boasts a capacity of 650,000 barrels, is currently in the test phase of producing the product.

In his address, Dangote expressed gratitude towards the Nigerian people and the government under President Bola Tinubu for providing a conducive environment for growth and development. He also commended President Tinubu for the initiative of the Naira-for-Crude policy, which aims to stabilize the Naira by linking it to crude oil transactions.

Dangote highlighted that the operational refinery will offer a transparent view of Nigeria’s true consumption patterns. He emphasized that the refinery’s ability to monitor every loaded truck and ship will enhance the tracking and efficiency of petrol distribution across the country.

Furthermore, Dangote assured that the refinery will cater not only to Nigeria’s needs but also to the demands of the broader sub-Saharan African region. This regional focus reflects the refinery’s potential impact beyond national borders.

The launch of the first sample of petrol marks a pivotal moment for Dangote’s refinery, underscoring its commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s energy sector and contributing to regional energy security.
