Dame Okowa Visits Delta Baby Of The Year, Clears Bills Of Newborns At FMC Asaba

Wife of Delta Governor and Founder O5 Initiative, Dame Edith Okowa Wednesday, January 1, celebrated Master Onwuma as Delta Baby of the Year 2020.

The baby boy who was put to birth today at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC Asaba at 3:36 am, is the 5th child of Mr and Mrs Fidelis Onwuma of Ossissa Community in Ndokwa East local government area of the State.

Dame Okowa accompanied by Focal persons of O5 Initiative, Wives of government appointees amongst others, were received on the visit by the Chief Medical Director, CMD Dr Victor Osiatuma who led them on a tour of the Maternity clinic.

The First Lady showered prayers, clothes, baby items and cash on Baby Onwuma and also presented packs of baby wipes and diapers to all new born babies in the post-natal and post-surgical wards including those under intensive care at the neo-natal unit.

She further cleared medical bills worth N1.6 million for all newborns at the neo-natal unit and secured the discharge of 9 stranded mothers and their babies at the post-natal and post-surgical wards.

In her usual style, Dame Okowa led series of praise songs in show of her appreciation to God for the safe delivery of baby Onwuma and other babies at the medical facility. She encouraged the parents to take good care of him and put their faith in God.

While celebrating with other mothers on the arrival of their babies, She kicked against incessant child bearing, urging them to be contended with few children which they can cater for and advocated for the adoption of family planning.

Dame Okowa commended the management of FMC Asaba for their kind disposition in attending to patients who have little or no resources, but  however charged the Doctors and Nurses to have a session with couples on the need for family planning.

Mr and Mrs Fidelis Onwuma filled with excitements, thanked Dame Edith Okowa for her show of love towards them and others who put to birth in the early hours of New Year day.

Meanwhile, luck smiled on Miss Eze Chinaza, a patient who had remained at the Hospital for the past 3 months for lack of finance to clear her medical bills, as she was rescued by the entourage of the First Lady who quickly raised over One and Fifty Thousand Naira to secure her freedom.

CMD, FMC Asaba, Dr Osiatuma applauded the kind heart of the First Lady towards helping the less privilege in the state and offered prayers of protection, and promotion for the State Governor and his family.
