Dame Okowa Urges Wives Of Traditional Rulers To Positively Affect Their Kingdom

The wife of Delta Governor, Dame Edith Okowa has charged Wives of Traditional Rulers and Royal Mothers in the State to imbibe the Biblical lifestyle of Great Queens in bringing positive change to their Kingdoms.

Dame Okowa gave this charge at an end of year get together with Wives Of Delta Traditional Rulers on Thursday, 5th December, 2019 at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, an annual event which had over 120 Queens and Royal Mothers at this year’s gathering.

Okowa, who decried the fallen standards of morals in the society, told the Queens that the Crowns which they bear on their heads are not just for beauty but to bring glory to God and change to their Kingdom.

She said, “You are not just wearing Crowns because of your beauty. God made man and created a help-meet for him, your assignment is to see your husband succeed, rise up to the task of making a change. God is asking me to tell you what will make your Kingdom better.”

While encouraging them to be success boosters to the reign of their husbands- Kings, Dame Okowa implored them to avoid Social Media influence and stay glued to God’s standard as it concerns Queens in the Bible, enjoining them not to encourage their husbands into wicked acts but ensure that they engage in good deeds which will outlive their reign.

Dame Okowa berated mothers who give support to their Children to venture into crime, reminding them that they are only custodians of such Children and will surely give account to God on how they catered for them. “Women return to your first love, your original function.”

She preached the message of repentance and Christ to the Royal Mothers, urging them to seek Jesus and be contended with what they have because “knowing Jesus gives satisfaction”.

Earlier, in her welcome address, the Director General, O5 Initiative and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas thanked the Royal Mothers for their attendance, adding that, it was another opportunity for them to offer their advise as it concerns affairs in the state and celebrate the Christmas with the wife of the Governor.

In a sermon by Mrs Kessiena Samson, Wives of Traditional rulers were enjoined to have an understanding on why God chose them to be Queens, “out of thousands, you were picked to make a difference. The Lord made you queen for the sake of your people, you have the opportunity to affect your Kingdom positively.”

Taking her key scriptural text from the book of Esther 2:15, She urged them to emulate the leadership style of Queen Esther and preach Christ in their Kingdom, advising that, they should go against vices perpetrated by evil doers and not conspire with their husband to do harm to the people or stir him to indulge in wickedness just as Queen Jezebel did with King Ahab.

Wife of Uvwie Monarch, Queen Patricia Sideso in a vote of thanks on behalf of the Royal Mothers, appreciated Dame Okowa for always showing care to them and prayed that she will not grow tired even as they look to December 2020 for yet another gathering. “Our Daughter, thank you very much.”

High Point of the get together was the symbolic presentation of Christmas packages by Dame Edith Okowa to the Queens.

Dance troops of the State Arts and Culture, and Drama presentation by Glory of God Music added beauty to the event.
