Dame Okowa, Naval Officers’ Wives Association Partner To Reach More Vulnerable Persons

For increased outreach to vulnerable persons in the society, the wife of the Delta State Governor and Founder, O5 Initiative, Dame Edith Okowa, has established partnership with the Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA).

Dame Okowa, while playing host to the women on a courtesy call at her office on Thursday, August 5, 2021, commended the National President and wife of the Chief of Naval Staff, Hajiya Aisha Gambo and commended the group for their philanthropic disposition.

She encouraged the president to keep affecting lives through her pet project, ‘Clean Water’ initiative, emphasizing that communities exist that do not have access to clean water.

She also gave the group her word that she would speak with the State Governor with regards to their request for education support especially for women and children.

“We agree with you on the fact that you cannot do the work of reaching out to vulnerable members of the society alone and that is why we will all put our hands together to ensure that we leave the world better than we met it.

“If you set out to reach out to everyone, you will end up not reaching anyone at all. And so it is advisable that we focus on affecting one person at a time”, she noted.

The leader of the delegation and President of NOWA said the group exists as a Non-Governmental Organization that exists to promote love, harmony and joy among members and their families.

“We have grown into a national philanthropist association that provides quality education, vocational training and empowerment programmes for women, widows and children.

“Through my pet project, the ‘Clean Water’ initiative, we have been able to complete 36 different borehole projects in various locations in the country”.

She emphasized that the group had come on a familiarity visit to align with the vision of the wife of the Governor.

“As a group, we have come to align ourselves with you because your track record speaks for itself. There is indeed no hiding place for the good work you do through the O5 Initiative”, she said.

Mrs. Gambo also extended her appreciation to the Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for his support in pledging to complete some of the projects in the Warri barrack.

“We also asking for more support in the areas of education for the young, medical and welfare needs for the vulnerable and vocational education and empowerment for women”, she noted.
