Christmas: Dame Okowa Hosts Delta Children, Calls for Sustained Thanksgiving
In the spirit of the Christmas celebration, Wife of Delta Governor, Dame Edith Okowa on Thursday, December 16, 2021, played host to Children from across the state at Government House, Asaba.
The annual funfair tagged, ‘Children Christmas Party’, had select children from the 25 local government areas who were treated to various entertaining sessions by Santa Claus, Cartoon characters, comedians and other side attractions.
Leading the Children in Thanksgiving to God for seeing another celebration, Dame Edith Okowa called for commitment to God, urging those who are yet to accept Jesus Christ as their personal saviour, to do so without hesitation.
She noted that wealth can not buy life or good health but it is the mercies and grace of God that we are alive today. “We wake up by his Grace, we travel and we returned. When we travel by road, we see so many accidents. We travel by air, on water, by foot and God brought us back, is he not worthy to be praised?”
She further thanked God for the established peace in the state saying, “Father we say thank you for Delta State. There are some states that are hiding but God has given us peace. The mercies of God has located Delta State, it has located each and everyone of us. We will continue to worship this God as long as we have breathe”.
While urging for sustained show of love and evangelism in this Christmas season, Dame Okowa noted that she jettisoned the usual gifts of biscuits and sweet packs but bought Bibles for the Children to help them grow in faith.
Highlights of the Christmas Party were dancing competitions, quiz, cutting of cake and presentation of gifts to the Children.
