Call Your DG To Order; APC South-South Chairmen Tell Progressives Governors

State Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the South-South geo-political zone of the country has condemned in its entirety, the media outburst against the National Chairman of the ruling APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by Mr. Salihu Lukman, Director-General of the Progressives Governor’s Forum describing it as ridiculous and act of blackmail.

The Chairmen in a statement jointly signed by Mr. John Ochalla, Cross River State Chairman and Hon. Amos Lalabunafa, Bayelsa State Chairman, made available to newsmen in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State after an emergency meeting called to review the embarrassing statement, described the call for the National Chairman’s resignation as misplaced, reckless and a distraction.

They stressed that the crises rocking the party in the mentioned States were not created by the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole who has been working with utmost vigour to curb the excesses and over-zealousness of a few leaders of the party which has been the practice in the past.

The Chairmen therefore call on the Governors elected under the party platform to as a matter of urgency call their Director General Mr. Salihu Lukman to order over his misplaced statement which cast doubts on his membership status of the party stating that no responsible party member will disparage the person and office of the National Chairman on the pages of newspapers.

The South-South Chairmen expressed dismay at the bogus allegations contained in the publication by an individual who has no authority to speak for or on behalf of the party, asserting that the National Chairman has been confronting frontally the mirage of challenges he met including finding the most suitable solution to resolving all contentious issues to avoid a repeat of the Zamfara and Rivers debacle in subsequent party primaries.

They stated further that any party which condones indiscipline is bound to head for total collapse which was the reason punitive measures are embedded in every political party’s constitution. Therefore, the National Chairman’s courage to apply the rules when necessary should be applauded by every committed and disciplined party member.

The State Chairmen also said that the powers to make sound administrative policies for the overall good of the party, is a responsibility of the National Working Committee whose authority the National Chairman is executing and has effectively discharged without fear or favour.

They concluded with a note of advice to individuals who are quick to embarrassing the party ably led by the National Chairman on the pages of print and electronic media to have a rethink as such act is unpatriotic and a show of disloyalty. They also advised party members to extol discipline and defer to the internal workings of the party as succinctly spelt out in the party’s constitution particularly, as it affects perceived and real grievances.

The South-South State Chairmen restated their commitment and loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the entire National Working Committee.

They urged party faithfuls to remain committed, focused and disregard the reckless statement in the said publication.
