Breaking: Gov Makinde Presents Staff Of Office To New Alaafin Of Oyo

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has officially presented the staff of office to the new Alaafin of Oyo, Abimbola Akeem Owoade.

The ceremony took place at the Exco Chamber of the Governor’s Office in Ibadan, the state capital, on Monday morning.

The presentation of the staff of the office was done amid controversy surrounding the choice of the new Alaafin, which was announced by the governor last week.

According to the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, Owoade was recommended by the Oyomesi after thorough consultations and divinations, and subsequently approved by the governor.

Oyelade stated that the announcement aimed to put an end to the socio-legal disputes that arose following the demise of Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III on April 22, 2022.

He further urged all citizens of Oyo State to join the government in celebrating this momentous occasion and to lend their support to the new Alaafin of Oyo.
