BREAKING: C’Appeal Reaffirms Julius Abure as Labour Party Chairman

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has once again declared Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party.

This decision was made by a three-member panel of the appellate court, led by Justice Hamma Barka.

According to Justice Barka, the court’s previous judgement on November 13, 2024, which recognized Abure as the national chairman, still stands and has not been overturned by any court.

The appellate court made this declaration while delivering judgment in two separate appeals filed by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, the caretaker committee, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The court emphasized that it did not delve into the issue of the Labour Party’s leadership, as such matters are not justiciable. Additionally, the court stated that any actions taken outside of its jurisdiction are considered null and void.

Therefore, the judgement of the Federal High Court delivered on October 8, 2024, by Justice Emeka Nwite, is of no effect due to lack of jurisdiction.

As the court struck out the suit, Justice Barka reaffirmed the appellate court’s reliance on its previous judgement, declaring that “Abure Remains National Chairman of the Labour Party”.
