Lagos State First Lady, Bolanle Ambode gifts Scholarship to Lagos Teens
Lagos State First Lady, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode has presented scholarship awards through her NGO, Hope for Women in Nigeria Initiative (HOFOWEM) to two deserving Lagos Students.
Speaking at a ceremony organised by Hope for Women in Nigeria Initiative (HOFOWEM) for the presentation of scholarship award letters to two students – Oluwadare Caroline Omolola and Afolabi Olakunle Felix, Mrs. Ambode noted that coming from a humble background was never a limitation for a serious student, as hard work would pay off with outstanding success in future.
The Wife of the Governor advised students seeking admission into tertiary institutions to put their best into academics, as seriousness would break all barriers on the way to actualizing their dreams.
She said, “I urge you lucky recipients of the HOFOWEM Scholarship Award and indeed all students of tertiary institutions, to put in your best in academic studies, as that remains the surest way to achieve your dreams”.
The First Lady disclosed that the HOFOWEM Scholarship Award was in line with HOFOWEM’s ideal, to give hope to underprivileged children by encouraging their educational pursuits, adding that it was instituted to sponsor brilliant indigent students from Lagos State public secondary schools, to pursue first degree courses in Nigeria universities.
She disclosed that over 100 applications were received online and all candidates were considered on equal basis with no bias for background and judged independently on the basis of the applicant’s ability to meet the criteria outlined under the terms and conditions of the award.
Mrs. Bolanle Ambode revealed that the successful candidates would enjoy the payment of tuition fee, monthly maintenance allowance, book and incidental allowances for the duration of their courses.
