Birthday: Ibori Golf and Country Club Honours former Captain, Daniel Mayuku
Chief Austine Modogwu has emerged winner of the Golf Tournament organized in honour of four times Captain of the Ibori Golf and Country Club (IGCC), Honourable Daniel Mayuku on his birth anniversary after driving in 77 Nett to claim the top prize beating Ishmael Khalil and Gibson Lee to second and third place.
Rita Atuzor swung in 72 Nett in the Ladies Category to beat Igho Ugbegu and Preye Obuaya to second and third place with Silver Oforgu firing in 78 Nett to claim the Veterans Men prize while Mrs. Hetty Egbai rolled in 85 Nett to collect the Veteran Ladies prize.
Chief Patrick Ukah fired in 92 Gross to pick the Best Gross Men with Rita Izoje swinging 91 Gross to collect the Best Gross Ladies Category, just as Gibson Lee hit the Longest Drive in the Men’s Category and Rita Atuzor collected the Longest Drive Ladies in Hole 18.
Some members who turned out to Honour the former Captain of the IGCC on Tuesday, August 15, at the event organized by the trio of Stanley Awala, Alex Joe and Igho Ugbegu described Honourable Daniel Mayuku as a man who inspired so many Deltans to take up the game of Golf saying he was instrumental to the growth of the game in Delta State especially as Captain of the Club on four occasions.
They said that Honourable Mayuku as Captain of the IGCC Asaba was key to the building of the Club House, redesign of the Golf Course as well as making the IGCC the destination for golfers from within and outside Nigeria especially after hosting the West African Golf Championship which saw Golfers from within and outside Nigeria converging on the IGCC for over ten days among other achievements.
Honourable Daniel Mayuku represented by his younger brother, Mr. Emmanuel Mayuku thanked the members of the IGCC for honouring him saying that he would continue to work towards the upliftment of mankind asserting that the IGCC remained close to his heart and was always ready to give his widows mite whenever he is called upon.
The Kitty featured the presentation of prizes to the winners and the cutting of the Birthday Cake with members of the Mayuku Family representing Honorable Daniel Mayuku.
