Biden Slams Trump’s Administration, Says It Has Caused ‘Much Damage’
The former US president Joe Biden, has slammed the current administration’s approach to social welfare.
Without mentioning the current president by name, he stated, “In fewer than 100 days, this new administration has done so much damage and so much destruction. It’s kind of breath-taking.”
Biden stated this while speaking at a recent disability rights conference held in Chicago.
He emphasized the importance of the social security system, describing it as a “sacred promise” that significantly impacts people’s lives. The administration has proposed cutting staff at the agency responsible for distributing $1.6 trillion in benefits annually.
The former president’s remarks come after the current administration announced plans to slash 7,000 jobs at the agency, roughly 10% of its workforce. The administration’s leader has faced criticism for describing social security as “the biggest Ponzi scheme of all time.”
In response to the criticism, the current president’s press secretary, Karoline Leavitt assured that the administration is committed to protecting benefits for law-abiding citizens and seniors.
Meanwhile, the Social Security Agency, now led by a Trump appointee, accused the former president of “lying” in his recent speech.
Former President Barack Obama also weighed in on the controversy, criticizing the administration’s decision to freeze federal funds for Harvard University. He described the move as “unlawful and ham-handed.”
